What it's all about!

Here's an old film from earlier in the year. The reason I'm posting this now is to give us all a sense of perspective in the snowbound ice fields of the UK. After a frustrating week of slippery roads and weather related misery this film is a reminder of the successes of 2010.

Mike crushing in font 2010 from Owen McShane on Vimeo.

This film is actually a secne from a larger production documenting the Scouse invasion of Font back in April. Obviously Mike is not a Scouser and he lives far from Liverpool, however he's ours and we'll fight you for him!! In the film Mike sends various problems which I will let you identify (see it as a Christmas quiz), however the last ascent of the film is particularly notable; Mike sends Imotet at Cuvier - it's 8a and it took him 30 minutes from warm up to top out. The tune used is 'Walcot' from Vampire Weekend's first album.

So has it been a bad year? Well, sat here unable to get more than a few problems a session, with a finger that resembles a banana rather than part of the human anatomy, it would be easy to say no. However the year kept on giving, from an 8a in the cave to the discovery of Clarach Bay, from Font in April to a fantastic summer on South Lakes Limestone; it has been a mega year.

Remember its all about a deeper perspective of days out on our playground of boulders and edges, not just the last few sessions!!
